What is Hospice Care?

Hospice care is for patients struggling with a life-limiting illness. As an individual nears the final stages of their life, hospice is a solution that offers them a safe and comfortable place to live where they can receive 24/7 care and medical attention. This special form of care also helps build a strong foundation for support among family members who may be struggling physically or emotionally.

When to Consider Hospice Care

Hospice care is for the terminally ill, typically with six months or less left to live. Signs your loved one may be ready for hospice care include having a doctor recommend hospice or family members struggling with the dying process. Another time when hospice should be considered is when a limited support circle exists and family members may need more support from the facility.

A Team Built for Care & Support

The team who will provide care to your loved one is interdisciplinary–it may include nurses, physicians, case managers, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and many other individuals who are dedicated to helping you and your loved one during this difficult time. Our care center offers family counseling to help members cope with the dying process.

Respecting our Patient’s Wishes

Our team also works to ensure that patients are given a sense of dignity during the final stages of their life. This includes allowing patients to make decisions about the kind of treatment and care they would like to receive. Once a patient has decided they are ready for hospice care, the goal is to increase the quality of life during the final stages, not put them through trying medical procedures and treatments.
